What do you actually do?
I create groundbreaking cultural, music and arts programmes.
My work primarily focuses on supporting and enabling artists and creatives from diverse backgrounds to deliver ambitious artistic projects for the public.
I believe an audience’s experience of art and culture doesn’t just start and end with something on stage. I’m interested in how we make audiences and communities’ journeys through culture as creative as possible.
I’ve created and delivered complex multi-year programmes, directed festivals and large-scale performances, headed up departments, worked extensively with 16-25-year-olds, produced national music projects, curated exhibitions, put on countless gigs and consulted on a range of arts activities.
Typical projects include
Festivals
Gigs
Tours
Exhibitions
Workshops and masterclasses
Creative learning programmes
Talent development programmes
Artist residencies
I have set up youth boards, brought in young trustees, developed participation strategies, consulted young people on national arts strategies, facilitated groundbreaking conversations and taken emerging artists on the first national tours. As Arts Council England’s lead for grassroots live music in London, I was also instrumental in ensuring grassroots live music venues and promoters made it through the COVID-19 pandemic through a £2.25 million Emergency Grassroots Music Venues Fund.
